Garnets and Flowers

These little guys are a my new, latest favorite! They very dainty but pack a punch--they're always attracting attention! The medallions are feather light and since they're made in fine silver they have that beautiful white shine and resist tarnishing like sterling. The medallions is a motif that I'm really liking and I'm working on some necklace and bracelet designs. The bracelets will be made from sterling (to handle more wear and tear), but I have so many ideas for the necklaces that it's hard to pick one! I'm working on another pair of these with pink sapphires-- yummy! I'm planning on adding a few things to the showcase at Shop People LLC on SE Grand in Portland.

Granulation

I love granulation! Each one of the small dots has to be made individually and fused, one row at a time. You have to be careful-- not enough heat and they won't fuse and too much heat and the piece will melt and be ruined! I have set these with garnets. Eventually, I would like to begin working in gold-- as you can imagine--these earrings done in 20K would be very nice!
